A birth certificate is the first legal proof of who someone is and when they were born. School admission, Aadhaar, passport, a driving licence, scholarship applications, age proof for marriage registration — every one of them traces back to it. When the birth certificate is wrong, or missing, the error follows the person through every document that comes after.

Delayed registration — the case that needs care
Registering a birth from many years ago is the most involved of these. There is no simple duplicate to pull, because the birth was never entered. The record has to be created now, with supporting evidence — a school leaving certificate showing the date, hospital or vaccination records where they survive, a parent's affidavit, and sometimes a panchayat or municipal verification. We tell you honestly at the start whether what you have is enough, because the alternative is paying for a file that cannot complete.
Correcting a birth certificate before it spreads is cheaper than after. If the name or date is wrong, fix it before it is copied onto Aadhaar, school records and the passport — because then every one of those needs correcting too.
