More than rations — it's a family and address record
A ration card does far more than draw subsidised grain. It is one of the most widely accepted family and address documents in India, used for income certificates, scheme applications, address proof and school admissions. Which is exactly why it needs to be right: a name spelt wrong, a member missing, an old address — and every document that leans on it inherits the error.

Fix the ration card before you need the certificate. Income and caste certificates draw on the ration card. If a name is wrong here, it shows up wrong there too — so the correction is worth doing first, not at the admission deadline.

How do I add a newborn or a spouse to the card?
With the birth certificate (for a child) or marriage certificate (for a spouse) and their Aadhaar, we file to add the member. Aadhaar seeding is done at the same time.
